A native Californian, Erica has lived in London, England, since 2009. She is currently a PhD candidate with the National Centre for Research in Children’s Literature (NCRCL) at the University of Roehampton. Her thesis is entitled ‘Lesbian Love Stories in Young Adult Literature and Graphic Novels’ and investigates lesbian, bisexual, and queer characters and their romantic relationships across genres in young adult fiction.
Erica has her M.A. in Children’s Literature from the same university, and her B.A.s in Feminist Studies and Literature (Creative Writing) from the University of California – Santa Cruz. (Go Slugs!) She currently edits the NCRCL blog and her writing has been published on various blogs such as So You’re EnGAYged, Picture Book Palette, IBBY Congress 2012, The Lesbrary, and Once Upon a Bookcase.
When not working on her thesis, Erica is an avid crafter, a quiet poet, and a wanderlust traveller with her nerdy wife, Alex.
